In need of Professional Brake Repair Service?

Glad you could drop by here at Mobile Mechanic Clearwater!

Here’s a very probable situation: you’re cruising down the roads of beautiful Clearwater, FL and you—practically out of the blue—notice that your car break is no longer working. It could feel as if you’re pumping air, but your engine is no longer responding to the command. Or, you can’t push it down at all because the system has completely bagged down. Our car must be in good condition all the time, you are free to consult also about our other services such as wheel bearing replacement and power steering repair.

About Our Services

If you find yourself in a situation such as this (goodness forbid that you are in one now), here are some of the defensive things that we would like you to do:

  1.     First of all, we need you to stay calm. Not just for your sake, but for those in the car with you. If you’re travelling alone, then just think of the amount of repair that your car would have to sustain if you were to spiral into a panic and allow things to get out of your control.

So yes, step 1 is to breathe. It seems very condescending, but this is an absolutely crucial step.

  1.     Next: make sure that you let other drivers know that you are in trouble. The last thing that you want to happen is for them to incessantly honk at you from the comforts of their properly-working cars. This would just cause you feel pressured, and thus panic. So go ahead and turn on the hazard lights. This way, they will simply proceed with caution as they go past you.
  2.     This may have been obvious from the start, but we’re here to remind you that your foot should not be anywhere near the gas pedal. Even the slightest pressure shouldn’t be applied. After all, the last thing that you want is to accelerate into traffic some more, right?

Hopefully, by virtue of gravity alone, your car will start to slow down and you can minimize whatever damage you will have to sustain.

  1.     If you are driving a manual vehicle, you should slowly decelerate your car by gradually lowering your gear. Say you are at the freeway on third gear. Safely lower on to 2nd gear. When the timing is right, lower some more into the first gear. You get the idea.

If you are driving an automatic car, you can simply shift to “L”.

  1.     By now your car should be cruising at a reasonably slower pace. Your hazard light should continue blinking. And, most especially, you should still remain calm. Is that a check for all three items? Good. Now what you should do is to carefully pull over to the side next. You want to search for a place where there are little to no vehicles around.
  1.     There might be hope for your brakes yet. Give it another pump. Most cases, your brake will only partially fail and it will still lend some of its mechanism to your car. Make sure that you pump swiftly to build up friction in your engine.
  1.     Now we know that your first instinct might have been to immediately pull up your emergency parking brakes. But see how it is not the priority in this case. If you pull up your emergency brakes your car is going at a high speed, you would only end up wearing down your engine—worse, your car could skid to the side causing further damage. So now, after all the previous steps, is the best time to use the emergency brake.

And so there you have it. You should be nice and safe—hopefully with minimum damage—after you implement all these steps. But of course, let’s not forget the most important step of all. . .

  1.     CALL IN THE PROFESSIONALS. This is where we come in. All you have to do is to give us a call or shoot us a message and we will make sure to have a mechanic dispatched to your area right away. After all, we know that the last thing that you want is to hang out by the side of the road with a buster brake and wait (possibly for hours and hours) for the next good Samaritan to help you out. And even then—even when someone volunteers to help you—you still want the best for your car. And so it would make sense to have the professionals take a look at the damage.
Consider checking also our affordable and high quality services such as alternator replacement and fuel pump repair.
